Bonded warehousing

Bonded and general storage, with stock visible in the same record as the transport.

Bonded storage exists for a specific reason: duty is owed when goods enter the market, not when they arrive at a port. If you are holding stock you have not sold, paying duty on it early is lending money to a customs authority for free.

Why it sits next to the transport record

A warehouse that does not know what is arriving books labour badly. Ours reads the same file as the freight side, so an inbound container is expected before it appears at the gate.

That also means an outbound order does not start with someone retyping an address that already exists three systems away.

The honest limitation

We hold general and bonded stock. We do not do temperature-controlled storage, and we do not do hazardous goods beyond limited quantities. If your goods need either, you want a specialist site, and we would rather say so than take the pallet and improvise.
